BIO
Christian St. Croix is a queer Black playwright with a deep love for Americana, crafting slice-of-life stories salted with the fantastical that unfold in sun-worn motels, half-lit drive-ins, quiet southern clearings, and backlot recording studios. Winner of the Dominic Orlando and Carlo Annoni International playwriting awards, his breakout play "Monsters of the American Cinema" has been celebrated in national productions and praised by the Los Angeles Times for its “grit” and “capacious empathy.” A 2024 Craig Noel Award nominee, his work includes the imaginative "We Are the Forgotten Beasts" (a 2022 O’Neill Finalist), the sun-soaked ’90s comedy "ZACH," and the romantic anthology "We Lovers," hailed as “the most beautifully written” play of the 2024 Fringe Festival by the San Diego Union-Tribune. His plays have found homes at theatres that champion bold new voices, including Rogue Machine, ArtsWest, and Diversionary.
